We should be careful to stop and enjoy it. Don’t run past it today! Here’s another thing we should not avoid: the God-connections we have in our lives with our friends.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of nature.” I have found the place I make the best connections with the most amazing women to be my friends are at my church. They are women I look up to, admire, respect, laugh with, cry with, hope with, and dream with. I think God designed us with this desire for connection built in.
That’s one reason I keep coming back to our women’s Bible studies. Us girls gather, and great things happen. Relationships are built, friendships are born, and inspiration comes as we study God’s word together. Our next Our Time Bible Study began this week – On Wednesdays at 7:00 PM in the beautiful setting of our Chapel on the campus of Capital Christian Center.
Melanie and I have been inspired by this new book by Christine Caine; it’s a great study called The Life Unleashed, that contrasts all the aspects of birthing a child to birthing your dream. (A study only chick would get.) Christine is by far, the most dynamic, powerful girl preacher I’ve ever heard. I just read her Tweet from a couple days ago. In it she said, “Humanity is waiting and a generation is watching…do not squander this moment in history…this is your moment…this is your time.” I knew I liked her!!!
I’m so excited to be able to break open God’s Word, with my friends, and see what dream He may want to reawaken in each of us! We go for too long, sometimes years, just letting our hearts’ desires and goals languish sleepily within us. I truly believe this is our time in history! This is our opportunity to do whatever it is we are each called to do!
At the end of David’s life, after all he had accomplished in the Bible, it was said about him in Acts 13 that He served God in his generation. I love that! We can do that! We can serve God in this moment and who knows what the end will be? David certainly didn’t know what his legacy would be. But now that the story has been told, we know that he was known for his musical skill, great valor in battle, beginning the legacy for Judah, he served Israel as a great King, and wrote personal examples for us to follow in understanding how to have a friendship with God. Did he know at the time, that all this would occur? I doubt it. He was simply “serving God in His generation.”
I hope you will join me on this journey of discovery. It won’t be the same without you!
