Picker Upper

You know those days when you get stuck in a downward spiral and you just cannot get out of it? I hate days like that.

I know of one guy for sure who can stop that spiral for me. He always has the ability to make me laugh, make me lighten up, even when I can’t do it for myself.

That’s one of the great things about church. You are a part of a community that is with you in the good and the bad. We are supposed to lift each other up. Sometimes in life it feels like you are trying to bench press 500 lbs. with no spotter. I have seen the guy at the gym who struggles getting the weight up and ends up nearly choking himself because there was no one to spot him. In all truthfulness, I have been that guy.

In life, you need someone to spot you when you are carrying the weight of life. You need someone who will lift you up, someone who will lift your spirits.

Who’s your picker upper?

For me, it’s just being at church. I can be having a really crappy day and think that going to church just won’t do anything for me when my bed & jammies are calling. But then I go, and no matter what I’m doing — meeting, practice, class, service, serving — I feel better when I leave. Then I have to wonder why I didn’t want to go in the first place. Guess I WANT to stay miserable, at least for a bit, and wallow in self-pity. Good thing I get over that!

  • i hat those days to when you get in a day were your faith just seems not to be working or everything is life is coming down on you and satan is manipulating your soul to the fullest but remeber what every you speak is in the life and power of the tough and i know some days its hard to be a christian but just as much time as it takes to be negative you can spend just as much up lifting his name so he can direct you in every situation you face
